Day in the Life of a Puppy

Birth

Puppies are welped the puppy room in my house. Here is where mom will be at least 1 week prior to welping. This is where she will stay until puppies are welped. Mamas are taken out every couple of hours to potty and walk. When mama's labor begins, I am in the room until the end. Watching to make sure nothing goes wrong. I have a camera in the puppy room that is on 24/7.

First few days

The first few days of a puppies life is sleeping and eating. Within the first 24 hours I check all puppies, weigh them, check sex, and place a color collar on each one. I weigh each puppy daily for the first week to make sure they are getting the milk they need. From 3 days to 16 days puppies go through ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation). ENS is where specific stimulations are used to make the puppy's brain recognize all aspects of its body. This techique leads to healthier, smarter, more well adjusted dogs.. Each puppy is handled once a day for ENS. This does not substitue their normal handling.

Two Weeks - Eight Weeks

At 2 weeks babies start to open their eyes. Between 2-4 is where they are learning to use their legs and finding their voice. By 4-6 weeks they have now got the walking thing down and are unstoppable. At 4 weeks is when the puppies are introduced to litter box training, mom at this point is done keeping them cleaned up and they are on their own with their potty messes. Puppy toys are introduced to them at this time. At five weeks puppies are introduced to puppy mush. Mama is weaned around 6 weeks. By 6-8 weeks some level of personality is starting to come out they are getting a little more curious and playful. By 8 weeks they are ready to meet their new family members!
